Why a hummingbird?

Watching hummingbirds has always brought my whole family joy. They are tiny creatures, yet each carries an energy that feels light, vibrant, and unmistakably alive. Is it possible to watch them without smiling? Even in constant motion, a hummingbird finds moments of stillness, sweetness, and delight.

The hummingbird embodies something I value in my work: clarity in motion. A hummingbird moves quickly, but never without purpose. It knows when to hover, when to shift direction, and when to reach for what nourishes it. There’s a quiet wisdom in the way it navigates the world — responsive, attuned, and guided by instinct. An instinct I believe most of us had before life got loud enough to drown out its voice.

And yes, I know — with a name like Success Compass, you might expect my logo to be, well… a compass. The hummingbird felt more honest: it moves, it pivots, it pauses, it chooses. One might say it’s a compass with personality? Really though, I wanted to bring the spirit of both the compass and the hummingbird. One gives direction, the other brings direction to life.

Growth isn’t only about working through challenges; it’s also about rediscovering what brings you energy, meaning, and a sense of possibility. The hummingbird captures that balance for me. It adapts with ease, travels far, and stays connected to what sustains it — all while carrying a sense of joy in its movement.

The hummingbird reflects the kind of experience I want people to have when they work with me - light enough to feel joyful, grounded enough to feel real and important, and clear enough to move you forward. In coaching and consulting, clarity rarely arrives all at once, it emerges as you move - clarity in motion. The hummingbird reminds me that clients get my scientific mind, my strategic coaching approach and my human-centred way of working - and there is always room for joy in the process.
